Faced with practical problems such as buildings that have been deemed dangerous, have irregular structures, are often flooded, are dark and lack light, share walls and windows with neighbors, etc., how to implant the youthful elements that post-85s start-up families should have while integrating them Renovating this old house with the nostalgia buried in my heart became a difficult design problem.
Old Building
The design is to break the original closed layout and reshape the ideal home in the minds of the residents. For designers Xie Yingkai and Guanzhu Ceramics, design not only requires attention to space, layout, etc., but the greater significance lies in the lifestyle to be presented behind the space. After all, good design lies in a detailed experience, not just in wonderful visual effects.
After the renovation, the house changed its gloomy appearance. The entire building was divided into two sides. While meeting the client's space usage needs, a patio was formed in the middle. The pouring sunlight created a kind of atmosphere in the center of the building. The vertical dynamic sense introduces natural light into every space and improves indoor ventilation.

At the same time, in order to connect the old house with the outdoors, designer Xie Yingkai chose terrazzo and magician slate from Guanzhu Ceramics to extend the outdoor nature into the home, so that the home can not only be exposed to the living atmosphere of the old city, but also Can be close to fresh and natural.

The attractive part of terrazzo is its mottled and uneven texture and color matching, which enhances indoor activity. With green plants as a foil, every step feels like walking on an outdoor gravel road, which is comfortable and leisurely. When used in kitchens, living rooms, balconies and other spaces, it is a combination of functionality and artistry. Its wear-resistant and anti-fouling properties add a lot of convenience to home life.
A few dozen short stairs not only serve the practical function of vertical transportation, but also become a visual focus, directly affecting the aesthetics of the entire home.
Considering color and performance, designer Xie Yingkai chose Guanzhu Magician Slate (Polar White), an environmentally friendly, safe, non-slip, and anti-wear material, as stairwells, bathrooms, entrance gardens and other spaces. For decoration, you can not only cut it at will, customize the furniture, and spread it over a large area without repetition, but you can also choose different light sensations to give the residents a more comfortable experience.
Designer Xie Yingkai always hopes that through design, this house called "home" will have more space for encounters and gatherings, and thinks about how to change the family's relationship and even family relationships through space.
