According to @36氪 official WeChat news, Weilai’s semi-solid battery supplier Weilan New Energy will receive investment from strategic institutions such as Xiaomi Group and Huawei. The project is valued at 5 billion yuan , received an investment of approximately 500 million yuan.
Sources revealed that Huawei, Xiaomi Group and Shunwei Capital signed in August and decided to invest in Weilan New Energy.
At present, Xiaomi has entered the delivery process. Weilan New Energy declined to comment on this news.
Public information shows that Weilan New Energy focuses on the research, development and production of hybrid solid-liquid electrolyte lithium-ion batteries and all-solid-state lithium batteries. It is a solid-state battery technology company of the Clean Energy Laboratory of the Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. the only industrialization platform. The company was founded in 2016 and is headquartered in Beijing. It has three major production bases in Fangshan, Beijing, Liyang, Jiangsu, and Huzhou, Zhejiang.

It is reported that the energy density of BYD's blade battery (lithium iron phosphate battery) is only 140Wh/kg, and the theoretical energy density of the 811 battery, the "king" of ternary lithium batteries, is only 270Wh/ kg or more, but 811 batteries are often criticized due to safety issues.
On November 9, Weilai Automobile released a 150kWh solid-state battery on Nio Day, with an energy density of 360Wh/kg. Weilai Automobile said that vehicles equipped with the new solid-state battery can have a long range. It can reach thousands of kilometers and will be mass-produced in 2022.
